Jordan’s Story

IMG_4275.jpeg

Hi my name is Jordan Williams and I have been a diabetic since the age of 19. Growing up I ALWAYS competed in sports so by the time I was 19 I had earned 8 All-American awards and I nasty attitude towards quitting. So when the doctors told me that I should not continue with my new fighting career I did not take their advice seriously. I would come to hear this advice over and over by every single medical professional that heard I was competing in MMA. "You're to vulnerable. You'll bleed to easy when you get hit. It'll be way too hard to control your sugar levels..." etc, etc. This was not only the advice but their strong belief that I would never be able to amount to anything with any physical career. I am 29 and have been battling diabetes and the doctors advice for 10 years now until something very special happened on 9.15.2020... I finally made it into the UFC. Despite the doctors who didn't believe in me, and sometimes myself for almost believing them but I pushed through the nay sayers with flying colors. Not only did I receive a UFC contract by knocking out Gregory Rodriguez in rd 1 at 2:19 seconds i just received a insulin sponsor. A very generous endocrinologist in New York named Craig Perlman has offered to continually sent me free insulin. Mind you this is the insulin I could never afford (Humalog, tresiba) which is why I was shopping at Walmart for my medicine. Now I can say I fought through adversity to the point were my life is now 100 percent better because I decided to go for my dreams. If you are reading this I hope what you got from my words is to never give up. Don't listen to the doctors who tell you you can never amount to the dream you have inside your heart. And who knows... some day it my be the very reason that helps it keep pumping 💯

Yours truly,

Type 1 diabetic,

- Jordan Williams 💪🏾
