Leah's Story

I was diagnosed when I was 18. It  was the end of my first semester freshman year, my dad and I were driving home from Ohio to Brooklyn when I started feeling sick. Little did I know that I would be going into DKA and about to be diagnosed as a T1D ! Now a little over a year later I have interned at JDRF, run meetups and have my own T1D Instagram, and despite the constant roller coasters I am so confident with myself and my type one! This community is so amazing and supports me through every high and low. It’s definitely not all unicorns (and never will be) but because of what I am doing and because of who is there to lift me up I believe that with Type One anything is still possible!
